I thought I was dreaming when I heard the news Left me staggered and confused Sitting on my sofa, fighting back the tears Hadn't thought of you in years When I think about you Makes me cry Feels like Dead Sea water In my eyes I was sleepwalking all through my routine Floating on from scene to scene Recalling all the times when the boy with flaxen hair Occasionally returned my stare When I think about you Makes me cry Feels like Dead Sea water In my eyes We weren't very close, but I won't forget your smile Though it has been quite awhile Once I had adored you, so impish and carefree You won't know what you mean to me When I think about you Makes me cry Feels like Dead Sea water In my eyes Wish that I could say goodbye I just want to let you fly

Jars on the shelf, dusty and old Sealed them myself, never turn cold Keep them confined where I can see Safe in my mind you'll always be Visions of you Soak through the brine Murky and few I call them mine You were so green, fresh off the vine Barely eighteen, and you were mine Brazen and profane, molding my desires Can't really explain how it expired Visions of you Soak through the brine Murky and few I call them mine Jars on the shelf, dusty and old Sealed them myself, never turn cold Visions of you Soak through the brine Murky and few I call them mine Visions of you Soak through the brine Murky and few I call them mine Since we've been apart I've been losing my mind Bereft of all reason but not yet resigned I don't know what to do without you Since we've been apart I've been losing my mind Bereft of all reason but not yet resigned I don't know what to do without you

I'll Wait 03:17
I'm waiting for my true love to return to me again It seems that he is just another fair-weathered friend Da-da da-da da-da da-da da-da da-da da-da Da-da da-da da-da da-da da-da da-da da-da I'll sit right here beside the door await the turning key Can't entertain the notion that he won't return to me Da-da da-da da-da da-da da-da da-da da-da Da-da da-da da-da da-da da-da da-da da-da I wish that I'd been cooler tempered earlier today It ended with him storming out me begging him to stay Da-da da-da da-da da-da da-da da-da da-da Da-da da-da da-da da-da da-da da-da da-da Wound tight inside my fickle mind true reason is obscured Perhaps someday I'll learn to be a little more mature Da-da da-da da-da da-da da-da da-da da-da Da-da da-da da-da da-da da-da da-da da-da I'll wait I'll wait I'll wait How can I meet your needs without surrendering my own? I may be proud but too much pride and I will be alone I love you darlin', please come back, with patience you will see That I'll become the better person that I want to be I'll wait I'll wait I'll wait (violin solo) I'll wait I'll wait I'll wait I'll wait

How can I claim that I know who you are? Now I can see that I've kept you so far Can't really say that I've tried all that hard How can I claim that I know who you are? Thought I knew you through and through But I know only one part of you What's the use of being obtuse A stubborn quality? I see you the way I want you to be This is why you always disappoint me I can only see you from my own point of view It makes it hard to get to know the real you How can I claim that I know who you are? Now I can see that I've kept you so far Can't really say that I've tried all that hard How can I claim that I know who you are? You one seemed so smooth and cool But time showed you had made me a fool Once tender and nice, you've now turned to ice Where went the fire I fed? You never would do the things that you said Your words did not confirm the life you led I can only see you from my own point of view It makes it hard to get to know the real you How can I claim that I know who you are? Now I can see that I've kept you so far Can't really say that I've tried all that hard How can I claim that I know who you are?

Come have a seat upon my chair and tell me bout the Civil War I'm well aware I'm lacking basic knowledge that I can't ignore My wit is rotting gently, I disengage my mind But when you speak of Grant and Lee Everything feels fine My lifetime wisdoms seem to span just one inch wide and one inch deep The fleeting memories of what I've learned are harder now to keep My wit is rotting gently, I disengage my mind But when you speak of Grant and Lee Everything feels fine Sit, tell me your history, I'll learn it all someday Wish I knew more than I do, what can I say? I'm filled with such a sense of sick suspense as you recount bloodshed I feel like General Hooker when the cannon ball concussed his head My wit is rotting gently, I disengage my mind But when you speak of Grant and Lee Everything feels fine Sit, tell me your history, I'll learn it all someday Wish I knew more than I do, what can I say?

Don't sing love songs, you'll wake my mother She's sleeping here right by my side And in her right hand a silver dagger She says that I can't be your bride "All men are false," says my mother "They'll tell you wicked loving lies "And the very next evening they'll court another "Leave you alone to pine and sigh" My daddy is a handsome devil He's got a chain five miles long And on every link a heart does dangle Of another maid he's loved and wronged Go find another tender maiden And hope that she will be your wife For I've been warned and I've decided To sleep alone all of my life Don't sing love songs, you'll wake my mother She's sleeping here right by my side And in her right hand a silver dagger She says that I can't be your bride

about

Sarah Goldfeather is a Minnesota-born, Brooklyn-based singer, songwriter, and violinist. "Goldfeather" is her first EP, where unusual but catchy melodies are woven together with layers of rich vocal harmonies. In a backdrop of lush bluegrass scenery, her lyrics are un-mailed letters to people in her past and present, though the words are universal.

about

Goldfeather New York

Goldfeather is an experimental pop band based out of New York City. The whimsical brainchild of Sarah Goldfeather and Mike Tierney, Goldfeather’s music has been described as “a nightmare funhouse-mirror take on Carly Rae Jepson-style upbeat pop [that is] deeply disconcerting and outrageously fun” (National Sawdust Log) and “giddy, cute, vulnerable, and delightful” (I Care If You Listen). ... more
